I have no problem with the sentence. However, I do a problem exchanging her for a ruthless arms dealer. Stupidity abounds in our current administration.

She was so offended by the National Anthem, she stayed in the locker room. She is ashamed of her own country and despises it. So I hope she enjoys her new country. Best of luck!

Going to RUSSIA and BREAKING their laws was HER CHOICE. She deserves what she is getting...no pity.

I love how the media is saying "she has to go to Russia because of low WNBA wages". Britney Griner made $221, 000 last year in the than any cop, teacher or fireman in the town you live in.

It's nice to see that athletes and celebs hold no weight outside the U.S!

DO NOT SWAP. She turned her back on our flag, and now she says she feels like Russia is her home, leave her there. No great loss to US.

I love the fact that everyone in the legacy media avoids the fact that Russia is a country with it's own laws and everyone should obey those laws just like we ask Russian people to respect our laws.

Stay there and pay for your mistakes like normal people do.

We in Russia are also not satisfied with such long prison terms for drugs. And our law does not distinguish between weed and heroin, for example, for any drug there will be the same punishment. Specifically, in her case, in addition to storage, there is also an article for smuggling across the border. That is why the period is so long. It does seem unfair, but it is exactly according to our law.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone that knowingly breaks laws. Maybe LeBron can help her out!

Remember when Kappernick knelt for our national anthem? And how fast he fell in the public opinion?
Griner was not a happy American either. But NOW she misses this great country!

This is sad, that an athlete thought she would be above the law, just because she forgot the weed was in her suitcase. She used her privilege in order to get out of a legal situation, where as other people doing the same thing can’t use their position to barter there way out of a crime. Perhaps, she will be an example to others who are thinking the same mindset that their accomplishments will allow them a get out of jail free. It will be uncomfortable for her in prision and sad for her family. She must be terrified regarding the consequence. We have all made mistakes, so judging her is not fair. Perhaps, she could use her mistake to help others. Only God knows how to turn her mistake into a lesson for everyone to learn from. Sorry for her family and friends who are suffering from her mistake.

As a traveler you have an obligation to know the laws of the country you are visiting. Russia has ALWAYS been known for their questionable human rights violations and their harsh treatment towards criminals and prisoners. Bad judgment on her part and therefore she should, and now will have to, pay the consequences of her actions.

I promise you that she knew exactly what was in those vapes. She thought she was gonna get away with it but she was caught. She is not being held unjustly!

The woman lives in a foreign country, breaks their laws, admits to it and the Americans have a problem with this? Why? Because she's American? Or is it because she's black? Do they care about other Americans who commit crimes in other countries? Or is it just Russia? Do they care about american drug smugglers in Cambodia or Vietnam?

Guilty is guilty. You think everyone gets a Sussman or Paul Pelosi trial?
