Mooney's have a tubular steel structure around the cabin it acts like a roll cage. Pilots have flow into mountains, another one passed out from carbon monoxide & walked away. As long as you don't stall the wing. Also if you lose a engine in a Mooney it has the best glide ratio of any plane in its class. A old Mooney advertisement showed it flying in formation with a glider.

"Minor injuries"?! After coming in like that? Was that building actually a bouncy castle?

Thanks for the upload ..and great news of no loss of life
..from a U.S. CFI and former airline pilot

Yep, looks like the guys had no option to turn back

Obviously, curious as to why the engine failed.

Here in Florida
..running out of fuel still happens due to poor planning

Every so often, a pilot crashes after clearing customs in the USA.
Why?

On their short flight back to their home airport from a customs airport, they run out of fuel because they didn't buy "too expensive to fill up" fuel in the Bahamas.

New one for me. Did not hear about this one. The point is that this place is way up in the north, too far from where I am. The big problem in Brazil is that the cities grow with no planning. I bet this airport was built in the middle of nowhere and then the city grew around it. The best example of it is the national airport in São Paulo, called Congonhas (CGH). It was built in the 1930's in a farm, far away from the downtown area. If you check on google maps today, you will see there's only city around it. The result is that planes with problems come down over houses and buildings. Two serious accidents in 1997 and 2017 in this airport.

I bet that airport has to fight to keep its property constantly.

Airports like that must be incredibly stressful to fly in and out of. There is literally no room for any errors or malfunctions.

Not the way to drop in on a friend... Only joking for all survived... Mooney's have I believe a safety cockpit structure...
