I just realised someone and I think it's funny but like Simon told Abby that she can't tell anyone because nobody knows, and the fact that he has to tell her that even though she probably wouldn't shows how anxious this situation can make someone, and it's funny because the other day I told someone for the first time that I was gay and like I said don't tell anyone because you're the first person I told, even though ive known her for years and trust her so much. But it's like a reassurance kinda thing making sure that person won't tell anyone

I love how simon tears up when abby says that she still loves him. Like you can tell how relieved he is that his friend supports him omg my heart.

Idk if this was intentional by the filmmakers, but you can see that when Simon stops the car after he says he thinks he's been in love, Abby looks kind of nervous, so Abby probably thinks that Simon was talking about her. When Simon tells Abby that he is gay, she looks almost relieved. Am I the only one who picked up on this?

I think her face is the most endearing. This scene makes me cry so bad. Mostly because it is the feeling of finally telling someone your biggest fear expecting the worst.... only to be suprised by a very unexpected, but so welcome, "I love you." I love this movie.

There's something so interesting about that exchange at 1:32. I didn't understand it until recently. I didn't get how she could not know and yet not be surprised, and then I realized that the reason is that she simply had never thought about whether he was gay or straight before. She didn't assume one way or another, so finding out didn't contradict any preconceived perception of him. Just like he said in the movie, she didn't see straight as the default, so although she didn't guess his sexuality, there was no reason to be surprised by it.

coming out is so hard, because you know that their perspective of you could change in an instant, and you don’t want to lose that friendship or relationship, especially if you’ve known them for years.

When I first seen it at the cinemas, alone, I had the same heart-racing, nerve-wrecking feeling that I had when I first came out, to my younger sister (first person I ever came out to) during that pause that Simon did before he came out in this scene. Felt like a hot rush, as if someone instantly turned up the heat, and my heart started pumping really fast.

I told my best friend I was gay when I was 16. She was folding laundry while I told her. She simply looked at me, smiled and said "Okay". That was the most accepting "Okay" anyone could say. 14 years later she was the maid of honor at my wedding

I remember watching this with my best friend (we’re both girls, and we kind of like each other) This movie made me tear up a lot because I’ve never seen a LGBT related movie; and even if I’ve seen more than one, this would probably be my favorite. It’s so heartwarming, funny, and I can kind of relate to what Simon thinks sometimes. 😅
But yeah, this is an amazing movie, I love it ❤️
