Funeral Procession, at the Holy Sepulcher

In the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, on the evening of Good Friday, the local faithful and pilgrims participate together with the Franciscans in the funeral procession of Jesus. A moving celebration that recalls the deposition from the cross on Calvary and the burial in the Holy Sepulchre.

Why are the Greek Orthodox always at the holy sites in Jerusalem when the Latins come, standing around like they have to keep them out? The Catholics don't do that to them. Neither do they purposely begin singing as loud as they can when the Orthodox services begin, like the Greeks do when the Catholic liturgies start. This is extremely impolite, to say the least. I know that they think we Roman Catholics have a different spirit (an evil one), and they have to "protect" themselves and the sites. I know this for a fact since I have lived in Thessalonica, Greece for seven years and have heard it from the Greeks' own mouths! When the Catholics are gone, then even incense out their altars! They think they alone "own" the Holy Sepulchre Church. It's time to call them out on this (without starting a war!). So much for Christian unity in such a turbulent time, or has anyone changed their attitude? I notice the Franciscans, being wise, do not respond to these provocations at all. I guess that is what Jesus would want?
