damage is for carry you should play healer if anybody that is not a damage of your team does more damage than you

Lots people here complain about the simplicity of the damage role yet most of them does nothing but to camp in backline then blame their teammates when they become snacks for flankers and distract the the support from healing the rest of the team when they end up dying senseless repeatedly cause you know ..
"Backline is the priority" and not those who are actively fighting, defending or capturing the point ..

the role of damage is to do damage . while some flankers like maeve androxus moji have better burst then some dps champs. and can win 1v1 against tanks
