In our studio, we have as our guests the German Film-Producer Uwe Boll, who produced already more than 20 movies here in BC, and Peter Leitch, Chair of the Motion Picture Production Industry Association (MPPIA) and president of the North Shore Film Studios.

They tell us that the film industry in BC is experiencing a serious decline, and that this rapid fall is due to a simple reason: BC does not have a level playing field with the rest of Canada. While Ontario raised the tax credits and incentives, in BC it stand still. This makes film productions in BC much more expensive than, for instance, in Ontario or other parts of the world.

Therefore, many film productions are now rather being shot in Ontario or Europe and BC's film industry is shrinking.

In this show, we are discussing, what BC can do in order to change this situation, and to make BC again more attractive for film makers.

Very very good interview. More in depth explanation of the business side of film would be great.

Great! As a foreign producer looking for a co-production partner, I better should take a look at Ontario & Quebec or what? I am confused. Thx for the great information though. I did not know tax credits are so crucial for the Canadian provinces. We don't have that in Germany, at least not in such extent. Uwe Boll is hilarious with his German accent!!! And I must admit, I laughed my bolls off watching one of his spoof movies, POSTAL!
