Hello my dear friends,
It is a great feeling to be with you again. As always, I missed your comments, your thoughts, and talking about them together.
In this work, I share with you the restoration process of chisel, which was given to me by a friend from Edinburgh, and I would like to thank my friend for this beautiful gift;
William Marples & Sons (1859-1971) Sheffield, England. One of the main tools of traditional woodworking.

As always, you will be satisfied with wood and metal craftsmanship. I was very satisfied with the condition of the chisel after the work was finished. I hope you will also be pleased to watch this process. Functionality, aesthetics and marks of time, I restored on these three elements.
Sheffield is very famous for its steel and I did my work without changing the hardness of the steel and without damaging it.
Something you haven't seen before in this video is my new myFord lathe. I am very happy to introduce him to you.

While presenting all this craft work to you, I tried to share my aesthetic perception and beauty philosophy with you as much as possible and as always, I added my love for nature and animals.
Also as always, my dear cat co-workers were very helpful in this project.
I hope you like this work of mine, where I live many seasons of life together.

Instagram @byoldhand / It will be a pleasure to see you there too.

Don't forget to like and subscribe if you like it. I would be glad.
I greet you all sincerely.

Finally someone who understands restoration means restoring and not replacing.

As a cat person, I really enjoy your shop helpers. I appreciate you not using some annoying music in your wonderfully crafted videos. The sounds of tools in the hands of the Master are the sweetest music to one’s ear.
Your videos rise to the level of ASMR, for which I thank you.

If I could get my chisels that sharp, I'd be a very happy woodworker. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Loved it. Skills far beyond most todays craftsmen that includes the lighting, sound, sense of place, the cat, and i would bet that is a single malt whisky. Well done i doff me cap to you.
Particularly like the natural sounds, and no music. Thankyou for your patience, best regards, g

Some tools, like computers or cars, are replaced within a child's lifetime. Others, are immortal. You did justice to the latter.

This is the best, and most sympathetic, chisel restoration I have seen. Really beautiful work, thank you.

I love the total process you use to make old things "new" again and you do it without taking any of the character of the piece away. There are few restorers that I care to watch simply because the process matters as does the age of the piece they take on. I am always so happy to see you post something unique and it's always a pleasure to see your beautiful cats. Until the next one...stay safe and thank you for sharing!

I have the exact same chisel, I’ve had it for 42 years now and the quantity of steel is amazing, also the balance of the chisel is just right in your hand, it was passed to me by my father and I cherish it just like you do here . As usual you have done a fantastic restoration and brilliant filming, can’t wait for next project my friend. Take care 😊
