Rochelle Walensky to Leave CDC in June

Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced today that she will be stepping down as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in June 2021. Over the past year, Dr. Walensky has served as a leader in the fight against COVID-19, making her a widely recognized figure among public health experts. Before coming to the CDC, she had been Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

In her final remarks as Director, Dr. Walensky noted the great progress that has been made in the fight against COVID-19, emphasizing the contributions of the American people and the efforts of the millions of individuals within all levels of government and the public health community.
