The LHC is not a linear accelerator... it is a synchrotron.

Thanks for this, one of the clearer videos I've seen. I know it's old, but my only question is about not taking us through accelerators that increase the distance between chambers. But one could infer what happens (increased velocity) based on inference from the equidistant plate set up.

Hi.
Just for fun, I was wondering if you could maybe give us an explanation of what type of components would be needed to create a Ghostbusters proton pack.
Not necessarily considering weight and size, but just what would be needed in terms of individual components, power requirement, and such...and what a real one might look like if a realistic proton pack was constructed with today's knowledge and technology.
What would the Ghostbusters need to do, to create an actual proton pack??

Very good explanation! Here is a question. How much magnetic field goes outside the tube? Images I've seen give me the impression all the magnetic field is confined in the inner part of the magnets.

Very nice video! So, given the speed of the particles in the vacuum chamber, and wavelength is inversely proportional to frequency, by what factor of wavelength distance are these plates spaced? Do you know of an example? From there the switching speed of the plate fields could be derived.
