I too am upset that Otis Taylor is not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame!!! Other than my dad, Otis Taylor was my 1st hero. I used to wear an old white t-shirt that my mom allowed me to mark up with the #89 with a red marker, and wear it under my dress shirt to school. At recess, my button down dress shirt would come off and I was then wearing only the #89 white t-shirt as we played football at recess. I was Otis Taylor. He gave us Chiefs fans so very many great moments to remember, whether it was catching a big touchdown pass or running an end-around or even a downfield block. The fact that he isn't in the Pro Football Hall of Fame is an absolute crime and a disgrace! Otis was truly one of the greats of all time and I feel so very fortunate to have been able to see him play in person and even had a chance to meet him on several occasions during his life.
Rest in peace Otis. Long Live the AFL!

I was a young boy born 1960 from Cherokee, IA. Otis and Walt Frazier of the Knicks inspired me more than any other athletes. The way Otis went after that cheap Ben Davidson of the Raiders after he spiked a downed Len Dawson. I love Otis Taylor!! He's with God in Heaven!!

Sadly, this new trend of labeling players the GOAT, especially the receivers, whom I shall keep nameless, is more for commercial appeal these days only. And the players who relish being called GOAT should go back in the archives, look at the footage of Otis Taylor, drop their egos, and say, I was good, but Otis Taylor is the real GOAT. I am sure he will go into the HOF now as he was so helpless in his final days; I believe it would not have been easy to put him there in his condition. It's better now than when he was helpless. However, they had many years beforehand to do so. Otis, you have crossed the goal line again for the last time. Thank you for entertaining us so gracefully. How you ran, your high knee action, your elusiveness as a runner, and your concentration in catching the football, with bare hands, no sticky gloves, spotless and no juggling the ball. You were Mr. WBIH (Watch Ball In Hands), And your sweet method of spiking the ball. Is no doubt in my mind who the real GOAT is. Number 89 OTIS TAYLOR! Go In Peace, My Brother!

Fact: Vikings linebacker Jack del Rio mistakenly thought Otis Taylor was a replacement player in the 87 player strike and attacked him. Isn't ironic that a Vikings player still sore over that butt whipping that the Chiefs gave the Vikings in that memorable Superbowl. Rest in peace Otis Taylor.

Just saw a clip from their Super Bowl win over Vikings & Otis clearly had a concussion & you can hear Stram saying "give him a shot of some salt".

What I can't believe ... is they put Fred Bilitnekof in the HoF before they did Otis. As a Chiefs fan, both should have gone in in the same class. It is criminal they didn't give OT89 that honor before he died. Criminal.

Taylor’s wiki article included the incident where Jack Del Rio, then a new player on the KC Chiefs, assaulted Taylor as he was reporting to work at Chiefs facilities in his job as a scout. Del Rio thought Taylor, who was age 45 at the time, was a “scab” player. They settled out of court but shows the true character of Del Rio.
