A little further down the line we will have a rollable display that switches between flexible and non flexible by passing current through it.
Also im ready for fullscreen ar glasses.

The issue is that folding phones aren't practical for the majority of people's lifestyles.
Could you imagine how long one would last with a construction worker? A school teacher? Nurse? Athlete? Military?
I'm sorry mega tech companies, but not all electronics should be resolved around your average office intern life style

I own the Fold, but Hauwei's application I feel is the most desirable. Phone shapes are changing people...get used to it. If I survived the death of flip phones back in the early/mid 2000s you too can survive this.

There is a reason though for the current standard form factor and the most practical folding phone to date does not really change that, it just makes a few sacrifices in order to pack away that common form factor when not in use. The folding tablet variants are unlikely to become as mainstream, due if nothing else to the greater bulk. But just about any successful design is going to revolve around some variant of putting the largest practical amount of screen in the palm of your hand, without making too many sacrifices. The rolling one is interesting but I wonder how much space that will take up on a functional unit (and therefore how much batter it will lose).

But none of these will become mainstream, unless they can manage to both get the price down and address durability concerns. The Z Flip might do a halfway decent job of the latter but still no IP rating.

Fashion Victims :X most of the ppl are buying tablets these days marketed as smartphones. Future of the smartphone will be a small device. Tablet-phones will become a variant of tablets and laptops.

Great vid and thanks for the summary if foldables now. I still kinda like the tri fold actually but realistically that’s prolly too thick when closed. A phone that folds out to a tablet still very useful though. I could use this right now to work on my commute

I just want a phone with a built in surgical mask. Is that too much to ask for these days??

😅 That would make it harder to choose for a new phone...

Apple is watching the other companies so it can be "revolutionary" and "innovative" when it releases its foldable, you know because they have "courage"

If you just want communication and media consumption you have a wide range of options and form factors at the moment.
But if you want to do graphic design, music production and other more heavy duty tasts on your phone or tablet you will always need an Apple device.
Not because it's better but because there's way more software for it. Compare what's available on soft synthesizers for example.
Almost nobody makes that kind of software for Android because you will never know if your software will work. No device is the same and screen sizes vary widely.
Too bad but this won't change in the forseeable future.
We'll see what Apple brings.

To this day, I dont know what her name is, but I love her reviews, hands-on and theories. But, lady, I have to disappoint. Apple used to be the leader in innovation; nowadays, they are behind...far behind. Yes, iPadOS is amazing and the Apple Watch offers possibly the single most deepest integration with the host device (iOS) - but other than that? No, I don't see anything that they are currently doing that is making others wish for a re-implementation in Androidland; it is quite the opposite, it feels like. But hey, maybe once the human malware issue is dealt with and such, maybe we can hope for something new by Apple again - and I mean _actually new_. Adding more cameras, shrinking G/CPU die size? Nah. I am hoping for a real innovation eventually - but it won't be any time soon...sadly.
