K5AB Beacon

Here's the K5AB 28Mhz beacon located in Goldwaite, TX. Once again,being received via an old vertical antenna and equally old Icom IC-720A. Great signal and great sounding beacon! Received in Tacoma, WA on 30 Mar 2015 at 20:42UTC.

Today, the 1st of November, 2019, at 1055 UTC, beacon K5AB was barely heard on 28.280 megacycles. I could barely make it out. I was traveling just south of Lake Michigan in Indiana. My antenna is just a vertical on my Jeep. My receiver is nothing but an AOR scanner. The beacon is in and out and barely readable, and I am horrible at Morse code. But I made out the beacon.

Listening to the k5ab beacon today again on the 11th of December 2020 at 2228 UTC on 28.279. K5AB was heard extremely well. I was in Greenwood, Indiana. My antenna is a homemade vertical dipole at 523.24 centimeters that is about 6 meters off the ground. My receiver is a beat up Cobra 148gtl with a 10 meter modification. I am still horrible at Morse code but the signal is so clear I had plenty of time to hear it over and make out K5ab as the beacon. Until next reception of the beacon.
