Sculpture and Ruth Asawa

In this lesson, students will learn about the artist Ruth Asawa and what characteristics an artwork needs to have in order to be considered a sculpture. Students will wind pipe cleaners around markers and pencils to create various loop sizes before adding colorful and hole punched pieces of paper to their sculptures. Teachers and caregivers can help tie a string to their completed work so it can hang just like Ruth Asawa's looped sculptures.
