Virtual Science Cafe Black Birders Week: The Hashtag that Started a Movement
Показать описание
Join us for the Virtual Science Cafe at 7pm Eastern. This week we'll meet Deja Perkins, a graduate student at NC State University and co-organizer of Black Birders Week. Black Birders Week was a social media campaign that started a movement within the outdoor and natural science community. Learn how racism extends into the outdoor space and how a group of young science professionals started a movement to inspire change.
Deja Perkins is a graduate student at North Carolina State University in Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation Biology studying urban ecosystems and how human culture can shape green spaces and urban bird populations. She is an advocate for using community science programs to engage communities with nature in their neighborhoods.
