Good to have private assembly line for Tejas, but the big question would be " Where is the engine". Especially when there is a supply chain issue of engine for already existing assembly line of Hal.

Private participation is essential. We need multiple private participants to expedite the production. In the meanwhile we should pursue our engine production again with private participation. Am confident that our engineers are highly competent

Where are the bloody engines?
Mark my words, US will not give any more engines !
It's the end of Tejas program unless we arrange engines from somewhere else !

Basic issue is GE, engine production. And supply chain, time line and decision making with advanced technology. You see that we are sourcing GE 404, out of production and out of date. After some time and delay same situation may arise for GE 114 engine, which currently available.

Public private partnership is best option for technology development and we see in many of other projects of DRDO but in military aviation we not see any private company for future projects that's why we see delays in projects.

HAL is only an assembler . Rest produce more parts, HAL will assemble faster ( if we can get the lazy buggers working there to move faster ). Then comes engine supply !! Too many factors including certification. I finished my course quite fast but Bangalore university those days took 2 months for results and marks card. Degree was ultimately delayed !!!😬😬

Approx 300+ Tejas Mk2 are needed for India's self defense. So adding private line works as the best way forward... export should not be a priority.

It is ridiculous to have a proposal to export to another country where there are not enough engines to fill the order in one's own country

It's is really a good initiative, but where is our GE 404 engine. US is testing our patience. Public Pvt should also in developing in house AERO Engine Kaveri .
We have to build our own eco system like flying testbed facility and Aero Engine test facilities too. No foreign country companies will share its critical metallurgy technology to us. We should send our scientists to train themselves and make it India. Jai Hind Jai Bharat 🇮🇳

Rn we ahould only cater to our IAF. Later on when we have our own engines (inside Tejas) and therefore supply line for engines will be more predictable, reliable and consistent (because of it), then we can think of export because lets be honest LCA Tejas is really good but currently the most important agenda is supplying to our airforce and in long term, it is to replace the engines with our indigenously deceloped Kaveri engines (that will make it more reliable since we wont have to depend on unreliable supply lines outside India)
