On the piece that attaches on the end of the cable that goes through your spare tire has a threaded bolt on the piece on the top of the van is a cable it’s called a safety cable so in case the spare tire was to fall the tire would not go out on the highway. Some people use this and attach it before they crank it all the way up as a safety and some people don’t bother with it. I try to put things back the way it was. Just a fireman thing.🔥Thanks for taking the time to do this. You can actually tell who the boss is here lol she is 👍

My spare wheel was stolen about 8years ago (cut that cord). Your video has finally given me the motivation to fix it and not have the spare kicking around in the back of the van. Cheers

Just the video I needed. Just bought a transit and I’ve discovered it’s not got a spare wheel and that cables been cut. EBay sells the kit at 65 pounds. Don’t know about a spare wheel cost yet.

My door sill area where the tire hoist is was crushed form a previous owner so I have to remove the hoist to bang the thing back up. It was preventing the doors from closing well. I've been searching for a good alternative to the factory rivets. Guess I'll be going with rvinuts then lol

Did you check the tyre pressure / condition while it was out...!?!? You'll be surprised at how many haven't / don't, then see then sitting on the roadside phone in hand head scratching...!!!! 🙈

Happy Days. I need to do mine as the wire snapped but it was still being dragged along upright behind my tow bar with the other cable 😅

Great video guys... just wanted to add if you want belts and braces I would fully grease up the internals of the cable / cable tube and all moving parts and actually wind it in and out several times before installing it. That part once its got water and salt in it will be rusted again in a year... they always go that way so if you really want to help someone else say 2 years down the road then thats what I would do... I know this because I had to cut my cable in a snow blizzard in Scotland after a snowplough ran me off the road without stopping and blew my front left tyre out I was stranded for the night because of it and got a loan of the metal snips from a kind old lady... some colourful words were said that night...lol
