It never matters for me. I live in a government overseen housing complex for 55 and over with disabilities. My rent is raised every year before the COLA comes out, and this year the rent increase is almost 10%. This happens every year, so that not only do I not see the raise, they actually take more out in rent every month. I never get to "keep" anything; the government makes sure I stay poor.

The gov will keep raising the retirement age until they have to hardly have to pay social security. The debt won't get any higher and still be able to keep their pockets full.

At 71 years old I don't get SS payments. Oh, that's right. I am not American thank goodness. But I do get 2 government pensions plus my company pension. Very comfortable living for where I live--Philippines.

I don't know if Americans know undocumented people put 97 billion into social security each year because they are unable to file taxes. Actually, they are the ones helping, so when you send them back, that income is gorne.
