Comparing Efteling to Disney is a mistake. A) Efteling is not owned by a mega-corporate chasing bottom line but by a nonprofit foundation that aims to promote nature, leisure, and sport. B) Efteling don't sugarcoat the fairytales they stick much closer to the often much darker storylines than those churned out by Disney. C) Efteling's build materials are what you see. When you see wood, it's wood. brick is brick. Plaster is plaster. Not everything is painted concrete. D) They honour their history and don't teardown or retheme old rides willy-nilly.

When you compare every themed park in Europe with Disneyland, does that mean that every American park is just unthemed? Because as a European, almost all parks here are well themed, and Disneyland Paris is just one of them.

The Efteling is not Disneyland at all. The concept, the environment, everything is totally different. It’s a dreamworld for everyone, young and old. The park opened in may 1952.

You where in the park the one day of the year Longnecks neck was broken.😅 It even was on the Dutch news his neck didn't work that day. That's how popular that fairytale is.🤣

The efteling was earlier than Disneypark and Disneyland.
In fact it is a kind of museum, and Disney knew the works of the efteling designer Anton Pieck and was inspired by him as well.

You're right about the building limit. The 20% is including restaurants, bridges and service buildings like toilets transformerstations and office buildings. That's why Ravelijn is build like a decorative office building.

Nice video! Efteling is my 'home park' and to be honest: my reaction to Symbolica was about the same the first time. "Is this it?". The best scene is the first one. Over the years, the attraction has grown on me. But I can understand your reaction. For me, Droomvlucht and Fata Morgana still have a bigger wow factor.

One of the great things about Efteling is that you don't have to go on big rides to have a magical day. We go about once a month, and sometimes only wander around, grab something to eat and do a few smaller rides and playgrounds.

We got back from Efteling a couple of weeks ago, we loved Baron and our favourite ride was the wooden roller coaster, so much fun. Max and Moritz, a kiddies rollercoaster was also a lot of fun and had brilliant theming. We had the opposite problem with long neck, it was always long every time we checked it out! 😂

Most Dutch people take bread with cheese or something to the park to eat. For me, part of the nostalgic feeling 😊. For my parents just the entrace to the park was already a lot of money, so we couldn't afford to eat at the park (well...maybe some fries in the evening). I'm so happy they saved money to still give us the experience of going to amusementparks.

Actually Efteling is a 2 day park. You kinda saw and did 30% of the park. There is lots and lots more. Its also a very old park so there are areas from the beginning. The Fairytail forest, the boats and the diorama are the oldest. The fairytailforest: when you do this complete it takes about two hours. Everywhere the story is told and it has moving elements. Like at the caste of snowwhite you can see the queen in the mirror. In the emperors new clothes the emperor is passing several times. You missed the donkey that poops money. You missed the clock in the square. The beautifully themed shows. The fountainshow when its dark is magnificent. Oh well you missed a lot of very magical things. Actually you were far from the whole Efteling experience. And also currently there is a lot in maintenance.

The fairy tale forest was all there was when Efteling opened and I went there in the sixties. The rides came way later.

I had never heard of this place before, and this was a fascinating look at it. I see what you mean about the theming, which gives it a much different feel from Disney. I think some of it might have been frightening for me as a kid, but if I were to visit it now, I’d be more impressed with the amount of detail and how much there seems to be to look at.

Morning guys, I never heard of that theme park but I like it, very beautiful and magical I love the themes around the park and glad they had a lot of trees and flowers and plants Some parks don't seem to have that or a lot of themes . I would definitely like to visit there .hope you had fun there.👍
