LOTR Cameos in the Lord of the Rings you didn't know - Part 2

The Lord of the Rings trilogy features several cameos you might not have noticed. Peter Jackson's children, Billy and Katie, appeared as young hobbits, refugees at Helm's Deep, and children in Minas Tirith. Calum Gittins, son of co-writer Philippa Boyens, played Haleth, son of Hama. Sean Astin's daughter played Sam and Rosie's daughter, while Sarah McLeod's daughter portrayed their son.

I always thought Sean was just holding some random kid at the end of the movie but it makes it way more wholesome now knowing it’s his own daughter :)

Elijah Wood's sister is also in the caves at Helm's Deep.
Peter Jackson cameo's in each movie. Alan Lee and John Howe (Famous Tolkien Illustrators who also worked on the movies were 2 of the 9 Kings who were given the Rings in the Prologue). In fact a lot of the production staff were given cameos too! xxx

Viggo Mortensen's son played an orc who was killed by Aragorn. Another perfect casting!

Those Hobbit kids are so cute. I always thought they were such a great cast. Never knew they were Peter Jackson's own.

Royd Tolkien, great grandson of JRR Tolkien, played a Ranger of Gondor (uncredited) in The Return of The King, handing out weapons to other soldiers in Osgiliath before the Orcs attack.

That's actually quite clever having Sam & Rosie's actual children play their fictional children, because then the young kids don't actually have to "act". They just behave as they normally would and it is entirely realistic

Really a smart decision to use the actors/actresses children. If really young kids were put on a set & only held by strangers the likelihood of them literally acting out would go up dramatically.
