Inside Out 2 is Disney Pixar's newest release, continuing Riley's life as she ventures through puberty and becoming a teenager. Inside Out 2's new emotions and story have captured audiences enough to break records at the box office. What does this mean for the future of Pixar and Inside Out? Is the studio finally out of their slump?

This may surprise some, but Walt Disney himself was notoriously anti-sequel. He seldom made them. When his 1933 animated adaptation of The Three Little Pigs made a lot of money and won an Oscar, he was asked by distributors and theaters to make more cartoons with the characters. He only did them because his brother and business partner Roy O. Disney said they needed the money. The three cartoons starring the characters were nowhere near as successful as the original. From thereon in, Walt Disney would frequently say throughout the years, "You can't top pigs with pigs."

This is the _only_ instance where a sequel actually did Pixar & Disney some justice.

Out of the thousands of sequels we’re getting, inside out 2 is the only one that deserved it. Me personally I think that’s why it’s doing so good. Also helps that the movie is actually good.

Pixar needed it. Plus its already a known IP. I'm honestly surprised it did well considering how people are slowly dropping Disney.

I honestly wasn’t expecting it to do so well. Color me surprised.

I honestly feel this series could be a trilogy at most. The first is Riley as a child, the sequel is her as a teenager, and maybe the third movie could be Riley as an adult looking to start a family of her own but jobs and life get in her way, leading to new emotions like stress.

But apparently Joy’s VA is wanting Inside Out to be the next Toy Story. To that I say: Please no. I truly believe Inside Out could work as a trilogy and MAYBE a TV show, but no unnecessary sequels, please.

1:07 you just confirmed why Pixar keeps making sequels, everyone asks for original movies but at the same time they don't even watch them, only what's familiar, that raises the question, is Pixar at fault for making so many sequels? Or is it what the public wants?

I’m grateful that Pixar has rebounded back after 3-4 years on having their films be sent to Disney+ (Soul, Luca and Turning Red), Lightyear bombing at the Box Office and Elemental opening below expectations but soon recovering after grossing more money internationally.

Hopefully _Elio_ which releases next June follows the same suit and is a critical and financial success.

As someone who works at a local business movie theater, Inside Out 2 is a MONSTER. 3/10 theaters are Inside Out and all 3 are usually full and a few days ago, we had around 500 presales per show

Inside Out 2 was the best Pixar sequel since Toy Story 3 but I did not expect it to be as big as a Marvel film.
