As these people were hiking towards Fuego volcano in Guatemala, they arrived to the end of the hike at the perfect time, just as the volcano started to erupt. Little did they know though, they were about to see one of the craziest things imaginable…

Just as the volcano started to erupt, they got to witness some volcanic lightning throughout the cloud of smoke. This super rare event is something most people will never get to experience, making for an amazing video and a once in a lifetime memory.

I'm from Guatemala, and whenever we go to my grandparents house we usually go up on a hill and we get a really good view of the volcano erupting, its an amazing view really

I'm not sure I'd want to be that close to a pyroclastic volcanic eruption. But it is SO pretty and that volcanic lightning was very cool. I especially like the way you see the eruption before you hear it, I find that very cool.

almost every eruptions cause lightning strikes since the particles inside the ash can charge up the atmosphere in rhe clouds, called volcanic lightning. And that makes it a cool effect.

I know seeing these types of things in person is probably much more exciting but I'm so grateful to live in a time when people can record these videos and still share what they saw with other people, without having to actually be there. I can now say I got to see lightning during an erupting volcano. Thank you for sharing the experience with me😂
