Every four years, millions of sockeye salmon journey thousands of miles from the ocean back to their native spawning grounds in Canada's Fraser River. There, after eggs are laid, the parents die. Then the cycle begins anew as the next generation of salmon makes its way down the river and into the ocean.

The fact these fish swim miles upstream, change colours and develop a hooked jaw, and then die of exhaustion after mating is really incredible.

I think they teach us to always look where we came from.

I caught 15 sockeye salmon in the Kenai River in Alaska. One was too small to keep, so I had to release him a way very different from how you release a bass or a bluegill or something like that. I loved pushing him back and forth in the water and then watching him swim away after that last push. I love sockeye salmon. I always have.

It's the same way and the words which says "You are dust and unto dust you shall return" to us humans is true😊.

We talk about climate change and overfishing. But the biggest impact is from farming operations making them sick. How come there is no mention of that in this clip?

As humans we take so much for granted. There is only one planet like this in our solar system and we take it for granted.

Omg, seeing that poor, silver coloured fish @3:19, mouth agape, in dire distress, taking it’s last few blinks before it’s inevitable death, made me so sad 😞.
