This year I was lucky enough to be asked to speak at VidCon Europe. I wanted to help creators understand the impact they can have by building a community of acceptance and kindness. This is a story very close to my heart. I hope

True story: This happened with me too. My friend, Will call him Sam, Was a new student in our 7th grade class. He was kinda overweight, and acted a bit weird all the time. No body liked him, But I thought he was cool. So one day I sat down with him introduced myself, and we became good friends. A few months later He started crying during a session about, Loneliness. I asked at the end of the class why he cried, and he said his mom, had died this year in the army. He then told me he was gonna take his own life, but then I became friends with him and thats what made him think otherwise. Thanks for reading.

I wasn't expecting suicide awareness, but I am glad this topic is being discussed in a serious manner where people are shown as humans. Human lives matter more than ideologies.

As a fan, this is probably the most important thing I've ever heard MatPat say. It's impossible to know who is going to see what we do on any given day, or who is going to happen upon our silly little video, but we just might change someone's life. And whatever we do, it might change it for the better or for the worse. Wield your influence with intention and care.

One of the last lines hit so hard--something to get to the end of the week. I've been Mark. And, like he said, sometimes it was just knowing that my favorite channel would have another video on the weekend that kept me going for those few days. Creators have an incredible power to spread positivity and help people like me and Mark without even knowing us. I appreciate him giving such concrete words to the usually nebulous concept of needing positivity. Thanks for saying this, Matt.

This man is a masterclass in how to be a decent human being. I know this comment will get lost in the void that is the YouTube comment sections, but I have to know that I have said this to you, MatPat and Stephanie: Thank you. Thank you so much for helping me through the toughest times in my life, from my parent’s divorce to deaths in my family. Thank you for teaching me how to be a human being and that humans can be good. Thank you for being the best role models I have had. I aspire to be you. I don't know if you watch these kinds of videos. But if you do, then I want you to know something. You stopped me from commiting suicide last week. I had a plan, simple yet effective. But having you say that my group and I were good at Shakespeare made just the slightest difference in my life. You have honestly no idea how much you have changed me in these past few days.
