How Wondrous and Great Thy Works (Lyons)

Text by: Henry Ustic Onderdonk 1826
Tune: Lyons by: J Michael Haydn 1822
Source: Episcopal 1940 Hymnal #260

Here is my complete recording of the Episcopal 1940 Hymnbook:

1 How wondrous and great
Thy works, God of praise!
How just, King of saints,
And true are Thy ways!
O who shall not fear Thee,
And honor Thy name?
Thou only art holy,
Thou only supreme.

2 To nations long dark
Thy light shall be shown;
Their worship and vows
Shall come to Thy throne:
Thy truth and Thy judgments
Shall spread all abroad,
Till earth’s every people
Confess Thee their God.

Just have to leave a comment! I clicked on this for no particular reason, and lo and behold, the song was written by the brother of my ancestor back in the 1830s. Nothing like having a tie to history, and think on how their lives differed from our 21st Century live.
