The Dolls Are ADDICTED! | Poppy Playtime Theory

It seems like Playtime Co. might have been even worse than we though all along!

In this theory I discuss the possibility that Playtime Co. were doing experiments far before the ones we see in Poppy Playtime, and of course, they were incredibly disturbing!

My name is Tericho!

On this channel I explain, explore and expand upon the darkest worlds in video games!

So there's this question that's been in the back of my head for a while. If Poppy was asleep, who sent the protagonist the letter and vhs tape in chapter 1? Is it possible Exp. 1006 lured you here? I really like this theory. Can't wait for chapter 3.

There's one thing that made not a lot of sense to me about Poppy's Playtime.

Did the factory ever sell the living toys to children or were they always confined to the factory? If the toys came to life in front of families like they do in Toy Story, wouldn't parents be scrambling to get rid of the toys?

That's probably why prototype was more hostile to everyone in the factory, cause it's not able to breathe the chemical in because it doesn't have organs.
I think in the chapter 3 teaser trailer, just shown the entire game with all the chapters in the future, the gas mask is the prototype which will probably be the final monster we'll going to defeat.

The thing that bothers me about Poppy, is that you clearly can't brush her hair, you'd destroy the curls 🤣
I love the theory that the dolls are laced with poppies. Interesting take!

ANNND... When the scientist documenting 1006's behavior at the end of CH2, (Who I believe is our character btw) said the "More suppression treatments will need to be inacted, to make sure that no other experiments develop these qualities". I can only assume that these treatments were force feeding them the drug

I don’t think Mommy changed personality, her mask just slips. At first all we know about her is that she’s forcing us to go through games to get the codes needed to progress, but it’s soon obvious these games are intended to kill you. When the games fail to kill you Mommy decides to do it herself. Although maybe Mommy was high at the time of the chase sequence with her, remember that if you go back to the game venues you can see that Mommy has killed the Bunzo and Wuggy dolls that failed to kill you, undoubtedly sucking out whatever poppy mixture they were carrying.

Still this sounds plausible, either because the Poppy mixture is addictive or because the dolls require a supply of that mixture to keep functioning, the same way we are required to eat regularly in order to stay alive. Which would feed into the “they’re just hungry” line.

Something else to point out about poppies is that it's been known (or at least the idea has been known) for a while that poppies can put you to sleep. In the book The Wizared of Oz (which was released in 1900), Dorothy comes across a field of poppies and the book notes that everyone knows that smelling poppies for too long can put you to sleep, a sleep that you cannot wake up from (yeah the book is a whole lot darker than the movie). This wasn't told to Dorothy by the Scarecrow, TInman, or Lion, it was just something that she knew. At the very least, it supports the idea that smelling to much of the poppy chemical will put you to sleep, maybe even an eternal one. Definitely makes scense that gas mask would be necessary.

Here's a fun (and upsetting) fact about history. Just like you said Opium used to be used for a bunch of stuff and one thing that you might have missed during your research is its use on infants. It was used for anything from an assistent in weening as well as, you guessed it, a soothing agent!

Makes sense! The symptoms from the withdrawal also point out blurry vision which gives a reason for Mommy Long Legs to not see you hide when you're running from her towards the end of Chapter 2!

I like this theory a ton. This would add another layer of despair to this story in that I don’t think is explored often in analog horror games like this.

Something I've been wondering for some time now- how is it that none of this was discovered by the public? I mean, so many people were working there, ALL of them disappear, and the factory is just sitting dormant? How is it that no government officials were brought in to look through the factory. They would have found these things and just like the main character. Clearly it got media attention as it's a known thing that everyone in the factory disappeared. But how did no official or law enforcement ever discover some of these more gruesome aspects? Could there have been secret connections with the government? But if that was the case, one would have expected them to create an investigation. Because at the end of the day, all of those people disappearing- what would their families think of that? Wouldn't they rally together seeking answers for their missing loved ones? That bit just doesn't make sense to me and I hope it gets addressed in the series at some point.

If you notice, the "Playtime" with the "P" on top of it actually is in the shape of a perfume bottle..

A support to Bron being the Chapter 3 big bad, the teaser passes each boss and how they were after getting beaten.
Splat, half, head.
We're gonna see Bron beheaded somehow.

The thing about Poppies is that they have no odor (other than earthly smells). Thus how could Poppy smell like her namesake

Something you didn't mention in this video that helps! Remember at the VERY START of the game, our character gets the note saying "Find the Flower." With a poppy drawn on it? And everything with that symbol thus far has helped us along our journey and progress into not only the game, like finding Poppy herself at the end. But the fact she helps us afterwards and therefore revealing us more information of the factory and what went on there. What IF ( just a theory here. ) What if the "Flower" we were meant to find WASNT Poppy? What if the real flower is a shut off or on valve for the gas? Giving us 2 different endings when it's all over? One for if we choose to keep it on, and another for us turning it completely off once and for all? Another thought. The flower could be something of significance with a poppy on it that could expose the history of Playtime Co? An envelope left by a scientist with all the records of experiments in it? Just wanted to help here and add my thoughts with yours.

Absolutely brilliant once again Tericho. I've kind of talked about how poppy seeds are used in food and can come up on a drug test while talking about poppy play time before but this Theory goes in depth that I've never even considered but totally makes sense! I absolutely love this Theory! My only concern is, would they be talking about drugs like this for a video game so widely marketed to children? The first poppy play time is rated for children 8 years old and up and the second puppy play time is rated for 12 years and up. Although even the Disney PG movie zootopia had to do with drugs as well although that was more of a made-up drug rather than a drug that is in existence. Idk, just something I thought of.

For your theory about the alive machines, notice that Barry was also following the player with his eyes
