Command and Control Official Trailer 1 (2016) - Documentary

A chilling, Dr. Strangelovian nightmare plays out at a Titan II missile complex in Arkansas in September, 1980. A deadly accident – the result of a falling socket puncturing the fuel tank of an intercontinental ballistic missile carrying the most powerful nuclear warhead ever built by the United States – leads Air Force personnel, weapon designers, and first responders to work feverishly to prevent a calamitous explosion. Directed by Robert Kenner (Food, Inc.) and based on the critically-acclaimed book by Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), COMMAND AND CONTROL is a minute-by-minute account of this long-hidden story – much of it based on recently declassified documents that expose other freak accidents and near-misses. How do you manage weapons of mass destruction without being destroyed by them?

One of the most underrated documentaries regarding the subject. Incredible, chilling and full of sheer luck.

Some time after this Titan II missile exploded, my father, brother and I snuck onto this nuclear missile silo complex 374-7 and went down into the ground where the command center was. As a young teenager, this was quite the experience I'll never forget.

My dad came under investigation when this happened because he packed and prepped the suits that the men in the silo wore. Interesting to see a doc about it.

It was a disturbing documentary to watch, the way the government treated the personnel involved in preventing a tragedy even worse is criminal. So, Nuke Warheads do not go off on their own, but in this case a single switch that prevented the reaction after hitting the ground avoided a nuclear explosion?.

Personally? I actually don't think there was much danger for the nuke warhead exploding. They only go off by a certain chain of codes commands and then a series of mechanical events that happen within the warhead itself. A good example of the safety mechanisms within to watch Buzz One Four Impact Documentary is a 2017 documentary about a B-52 bomber that crashed on Big Savage Mountain in Maryland in 1964 while carrying two thermonuclear bombs. The documentary tells the story of the crash, the rescue and recovery of the crew, and the impact it had on their lives. It also includes the story of local citizens who became first responders and almost died trying to help. In short the warheads never detonated as neither did this event in 1980. It's an interesting documentary but the way it's promoted has people thinking whoa did some nuke explode back in 1980? Oh well that's Hollywood.

Wait, so damage to the outer part of a rocket will somehow make the rest of the missile detonate? I would hope the design of these nuclear missiles aren't that bad...

An Accident doesn't cause a Nuclear detonation. The General public was never in danger.

The US should change the warheads site to Washington, below the White house and the capitol.
If something happens, the people to blame will be reiponsiblised.
