Sad to see such an amazing aircraft leave their fleet. I am thankful that I at least once got to fly the a380 from SIN to CDG with Singapore airlines.

Flew in an a380 from LA to Sydney did not feel the take off at all and no turbulence the whole time.

The best flight I ever took was an A380 FRA to NRT. Had an entire row to myself (which perhaps is an indication it wasn't economical).

Very sad to see the 747 and A380 quadjets go. They are incredible birds, but I guess widebody dual-engined jets are the future.

The first time I ever knew the a380 really exist was when I flew on the model from London to Los Angeles in 2016. Despite knowing the actual date the model started operations, I didn't expect it to retire so soon. I felt it will continue to operate for a very long time just like other older aircrafts but it still surprising that so many airlines have retired it and that is why I am so proud of Emirates.

The a380 is going to be a big lost for all passengers.

It's a huge pressure for airlines to operate A380 because fuelusage and maintenance are lot more compared to other wide body aircrafts.

A bit damn sad, for I was planning to fly one for the experience, based om friends that have flown one. I hope BA operates it for awhile. It may end up big in charters, specialty airlines. It deserves the chance to live out it’s life as a significant type, which will be the pinnacle in passenger aircraft size & capacity. End of an era really…

50 years on, the Boeing 747 in all its variants has seen off almost all its competitors the DC-10, MD-11, L1011, A340 & almost all A380's. She will always be The Queen of the skies 👏👏👏👏👏

One of the A380s biggest problems is that it is limited to where it can operate as airports require special facilities such as ramps and ground handling facilities to service it. Also it's not wear and tear that occurs when the aircraft is stored but degradation from the elements such as corrosion in moist climates

I'm glad I tried this aircraft on several routes (JFK > DXB) and loved it.

This was by far the best airplane I have ever flown, multiple times!

I remember watching the 1st flight in Toulouse on TV, and it seems like yesterday. And actually, it was only 16 years ago, in 2005. Possibly the shortest lifespan for an airliner from a major manufacturer.

Sad news but well publicised.
I love the aircraft.
First flew on AF LHR-CDG for the weekend when used for crew training.
Another 5 Longhaul sectors with 5 carriers including AF.

The most memorable was LH First
MIA-FRA.
Absolutely luxury with just 8 seats and a tour of the aircraft by the Purser.

Actually the pandemic had very little to do with the retirement of the A-380. When the A-380 was conceived smaller aircraft simply could not fly anything but medium haul, so the world was slowly transitioning to hub and spoke logistics for both passengers and freight. In about 2000 there were some serious improvements to engine efficiency which led to range being extended by 50% in some models. This meant direct flights in smaller aircraft were possible for some long haul routes. There is also the matter of insurance. IE the A-380 was designed to have 1000 passengers in cattle class. No insurers would insure for this as it would mean an accident could potentially kill more people just on the A-380 than in the worst aircraft only accident to date. 1000 is also viewed as psychological number in this respect.

Sad fate for the Whale of the Skies but might be a good sign for The Queen of the Skies like what you have been said. I LOVE THE QUEEN OF THE SKIES ✈👑❤
