I honestly wish Jim Root was still in Stone Sour, it hasn't been the same without him in my opinion.
That being said I would absolutely love to hear Corey and Jim make more music together. Something kind of similar to Stone Sour would be awesome. (Not as heavy as Slipknot)
It would be interesting to hear them do some slamming brutal death metal shit too tho xD

I hope Stone Sour comes back one of these days I'm glad Jim and Corey are still friends and on good terms

Honestly, while I dug hydrograd for what it was, I still prefer Jim root era stone sour. To me, he and Corey have this musical chemistry that you can't fake. I'd personally love to hear some new shit from those two again. May not be stone sour or slipknot, but I guarantee it'll be something worth sinking my teeth into for sure!

When Jim left Stone Sour it was noticeable. He and Corey work so well together.

Yeah I mean the fact that they released this new Slipknot album was already amazing enough to me and I absolutely love it but the fact that Corey and Jim want to go off and do something completely new as well. Who could hate that?

Personally, I would be very excited if Corey and Jim created another band together. I LOVED Stone Sour but after Jim was out, Stone Sour just didn't feel like the same band. I'm all for bands experimenting with new stuff but the band just went down this road of what I would probably just refer to as pop-rock, where the songs just sounded like their main focus was to be on the radio and like I mentioned before, they didn't feel like Stone Sour. I always thought of Stone Sour (with Jim) as lite-slipknot. Where they had some heavy riffs but they were also not as restricted on only being heavy and let Corey be way more melodic and even just the songs to breathe more life. That's not to say I'm shitting on Slipknot. I really enjoy Slipknot.

This is awesome…I will say that I think it’s interesting that Corey’s reason for fans not to expect anything new anytime soon from SS is basically because he doesn’t want to split his focus between this band and the other things he’s got going on….sounds a lot like the decision Jim Root made before he got the boot 😅 live and ya learn lol. But hey, it worked out in the end for ‘em all anyways which is good 🤟🏾💯🔥

I'd be stoked if Jim and Corey put together another band. I feel like it would more than likely carry the same vibes as Stons Sour. Then again, I was really excited when I heard Corey Taylor was going to do some solo stuff, and when his solo album finally came out, I didn't care for it.

Corey and Jim my two favorite knots! After hearing Corey's first solo album and knowing that Jim is into some eclectic shit too, I think it could be very cool.

I remember Jim Root playing in Atomic Opera with Mike Curry who also could friggin shred the guitar. Bloodsport is still dope. Anyhow always liked Jims projects outside of Slipknot, hope it works out

Jim Root got kicked out of Stone Sour simply for stealing the spotlight from Josh Rand... honestly I would have demanded more money too having to work with Josh Rand's Ego.

I remember reading back a while ago when Corey was with Slipknot and he was approached by Josh Rand with a demo tape of material that Josh wanted Corey to give a listen to because he was going to go the solo route and keep in mind thatl this was in the wake of I believe that it was either Josh's father or grandfather had recently passed away around that time and Josh was looking for some honest feedback and after Corey gave Josh's material an honest listen and Corey liked the material so much at this point (I believe that Corey was actually looking for an escape from the one-sided version of Slipknot from 1999) and plus Corey and Josh already had a past with Stone Sour so I believe Corey decided that he was going to proceed with Josh and those demos and they released the self-titled Stone Sour album.

This was all a money grab plus Josh had seniority and didn't like the fact that Jim was outperforming performing him on stage everynight.

I believe that it was all about who was making more money in Stone Sour and since Jim was already a member of Slipknot so that just made Jim a bigger draw so naturally that meant that Jim could respectfully demand more money but since Stone Sour was already a reestablished band it was just natural selection that Jim would get the boot and Josh would stay no matter who Jim was friends with from the other band.

From the interviews I have watched Jim does seem like a very smart and very humble guy but he also seems like (depending on which side you got on when it came to Jim) that he could also be an asshole too. Everyone know that with the territory of being a musician follows the black cloud known as "Ego" and Ego does play a huge role in any musicians life so the clash of the egos happened between two talented guitar players on stage who both could play the hell out of leads and could both could play rhythm guitar and I think that's what Josh didn't like about Jim was that when Stone Sour was reinstated that Josh thought that this incarnation of Stone Sour was going to be the Josh Rand show.

How many projects does Corey Taylor actually need at this point (like everyone else) can't wait to hear what Corey Taylor has to say about it.

Am I the only person that would love to hear “the mick Thompson project”? I bet mick has a lot he would like to say and play

I rather see an album of jim and corey doing an album together than another stone sour album. After Jim was fired, I basically said enough. But those 2 doing a rock record would worth picking up.

I mean Jim leaves Stone Sour citing issues with people in the band and wanting to focus on Slipknot, then Stone Sour goes on indefinite hiatus with Corey citing similar issues.

With this news seems like "Project X" might be rekindling like it did the first time Stone Sour reunited. Would be cool to see, cause you could tell Corey and Jim both loved being in Stone Sour together until it wasn't fun anymore. Plus Jim talked about a possible solo project at some point, maybe it might evolve into a side thing with just Corey, sorta like Look Outside Your Window.
