I understand the qualities of vinyl. I have a very good vinyl rig and I might play it 5 percent of the time. Digital has come so far and sounds so good vinyl is just not worth the hassle any more.

You hit the nail on the head. Vinyl engages me with the artist. So many songs I would otherwise not hear. I am much older than you and I broke from vinyl in the 80’s when CDs came on the scene. It started me to skip songs and not listen to all the music. Now I’m back on the vinyl path. It’s the most engaging music experience for me. I recent added an Acoustic Signature Hurricane table. If someone ask me in the 70’s if I would put 20k into a turntable setup I would have laughed. Never say never. It was worth every penny.

Glad your keeping your turntable 😁 in this day where digital seems to be the way to go, not for me turntable is the way to go, we hear in analogue and to me regardless of how much a dac etc costs something something gets lost in the conversion and sounds well just not wright, it's getting there but not yet, I listen to my streamer and I listen to a song and another song pops in my head so I search for that song so not really listening listening properly but with turntable you sit back relax and listening 😁

Thanks for the shout out Jay! 🙏🏻

It is always my pleasure to come hang with you and I look forward to going over the Kronos’ setup. It is wise to do a “wellness check” at least twice a year, and more ideally once a quarter, because it is not rare for a turntable to go out of alignment - even if slightly - with normal use.

Also we must consider that as a new cartridge breaks-in there will be a need to reassess VTA (vertical tracking angle) to extract maximum performance.

But what’s most rewarding for me each time I visit is the opportunity to introduce you to some cool new artists or music.

So let’s talk later and book my visit!

P.S. So happy and proud 🥹 f you for not giving up on your analog journey quite yet because our next stop is….Open Reel!!!!

Jay, Love the channel. I listened carefully to the video and essentially heard you make the case for liquidating your digital to clear out the time and funds for vinyl!

Great commentary Jay! I did the whole digital thing, importing music from CD into computer, nada, nada, nada. And, while my gear pales in comparison, I quickly became a very lazy listener and over time abandoned sweet spot. Took that computer out and went back to just transport and DAC and will never go back. I always listen to entire album regardless of format. I'm from an earlier era and never liked the skipping about for tracks..

Beautiful video jay, very personal and sincere. I started my adventure in the hi-end world by listening to your content and in three years I went from a simple hi-fi system to a system that costs like a house. Sometimes I feel like selling everything, the risk is not having fun. luckily friends often come to visit me and I go to them, and we listen to music. They are splendid moments and thanks to these this passion remains alive and grows. I 've understood that the important thing is to have fun, that's the aim of this wonderful hobby. To date I have only streamed. PS next week I get the first turntable!

Hi Jay,
I have enjoyed your content here on your channel for several months now. And, from time to time, I even agreed with some…
But always passive, “read-only” mode, never reacted.
But this time you spoke from the heart, man. And these are exactly my thoughts and my words.
I’m referring mainly to the second half.
You really nailed it, and I so much appreciate it.
Thanks!

That is an amazing recording! I own it as well and it's one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing this with your audience, Jay. I'm sure they'll dig it as much as we do.

I appreciate your honesty. You have a new Subscriber. I love analog (Type II or Type IV Tapes I recorded from Vinyl, and Vinyl LPs) myself but on occasion play streams for parties or times when I am not doing critical listening and relaxing with a nice cocktail and smoke while I soak in the Analog greatness with NO distractions or other people around.

Man Jay. I just dont know. The content and the way you present your content, so off the cuff, in a good way and in an improviso manner and so informative, Just Genius. Thanks Man.

Great channel Jay!!! Bingo! Your conclusion of getting back to the music via vinyl is exactly why I have gone almost all vinyl. What is your day job?

i feel like that's what happens when we have dedicated listening rooms. sitting down and listening to music is the best, but the way i discover music is when i listen while doing other things, like work, hobbies, exercise, etc. i can put on the radio (via streaming) or play a track or two from qobuz, then let it choose for me (a la pandora). and to be able to hear that through an amazing system is the best, but if the system is partitioned off from the rest of your house, there are a lot of missed opportunities. don't forget cooking with music, scenic views (if you have them), etc

Jay, use an antistatic carbon brush before playing a record. Takes only a few seconds. And if you feel confident with it, use a stylus brush. Very delicate job. And always have bare arms near the tone arms. Shirt or sweater sleeves can catch under the arm and it's goodbye stylus and arm.
