The amount of callbacks, references and easter eggs to past chapters is insane. First off the actual house of balloons with deflated balloons everywhere. The overhead rotating shot of young Abel as his hair changes to all his famous old styles. Then the reflections of himself and how he looked throughout those past chapters and the end. This album is going to close The Weeknds story beautifully and create a finale we will remember forever

I swear Abel has always been the hug I needed at my worst moments. I grew up with him and living thru every era with him has been so special for me. Trilogy, Kissland, BBTM, Starboy, MDM, After Hours, Dawn fm and everything in between have taught me so much.

Seeing his constant desire to grow reminds me so much of myself, so hopeful despite the hardships life throws at you. I’m going to miss The Weeknd but I will always support you Abel! Thank you for being there for me. This is the beginning of the end. XO forever 🥺🫶🏼

I love how this isn’t just “he is releasing a new album because it’s his last as The Weeknd.” you can tell this album is very special to him. It’s thought out but not just to satisfy his fans. It’s a new era but also a new him.

Over the years we watched The Weeknd change, his style, his music. I've been following Abel for 12 years and for me each new era he became darker and darker. I believe especially last eras were a cry for help. He often sang about fame, the prices that comes with fame, that he is not happy and himself anymore, and he is possessed by 'dark forces' of fame, how these things changed him. I deeply believe this new era will be his liberation. He became a child again, back to his mamas arms. ''They'll always find a way'' he says, but not anymore. He will be himself, 'Abel' one more time and I'm so happy and excited for it.

This is so deep. Abel is the prodigal son. His inner child knows he was making the wrong decisions as the personage we know to be The Weeknd, so he is chasing his mom in an alternate reality because she was always the one ushering him in the right path from is adolescence. He finally catches up with her and for the first time he finds peace (as Abel--his momma’s baby). You can hear the song change affirm this notion. He is in his mom’s arms in God’s presence and is looking at her as if to say: “You were right, mom...I went the wrong way...this is where I always should have been.”
