Kinda sad how the symphony wasn’t played as he heard it in his head. Bet that version would’ve been majestic.

conflicting stories. The legend is that he was afraid to turn around because he couldn’t hear the audience and didn’t know if they were pleased or dissatisfied

As Ludwig van Beethoven said:

“To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.”

And I live by these words

Entire symphony while being almost deaf. What a legend.

This is like giving your little brother a controller with no batteries and telling him he's playing

This scene from "Immortal Beloved" was sad. Beethoven could see the audience applauding, but the sound track was silent.

What they did to Beethoven was trifling but it was for the better 😭💀. At least he felt happy knowing people like his music.

The story is half told.
This was Beethoven's 9th symphony. He was already deaf and very weakened by illness.
The song that was played in the orchestra was invented by him but since he was deaf he could no longer play his role, so someone else was in charge of fulfilling Beethoven's role but it was with a song that he invented himself so the credit remains being for him but I emphasize this because the YouTube short makes it seem different.
Despite being deaf and not being able to continue doing his job, they allowed him to go, make him believe that he performed the symphony that he invented and saw the applause of the people and all this effort out of the pure, mere respect and admiration that Beethoven caused in the world.
This was the last symphony he invented. Surrounded by illness, sad memories and unable to listen to his beloved music, he still decided to be optimistic and create "the hymn to joy" (name of his ninth and last symphony). He died knowing that his last symphony was loved by the world.

People just don't understand how goated and godly classical talents used to be. Some things they did just seem impossible, like a brightly lit light bulb during the Greco-Roman period.

This has to be one of my favorite classical music stories of all time. Beethoven will forever be one of the greatest musicians that ever lived, and his genius is unrivaled. 💛🎶

I went to the house he was born in, there's a museum about him in there. Loved it, you could see his viola and other instruments and stuff and several ear trumpets

Imagine having such an amazing memory that you could write legendary symphonies based on the combination of individual sounds that you haven't heard since you were 5 or 6.

Very wholesome that they went through all this to preserve his feelings

I went to visit Germany last spring and top of my list was to visit Bonn and to see the Beethoven’s house Museum. Knowing it was the 200 anniversary of the premiere of the Ninth Symphony I had to be there to pay my respects Ludwig. When I did set foot in the house I was overwhelmed by tears of joy 🥹

And now he is among the gratest of them all. He takes place next to bach, mozart, brahms, tchaykovsky, chopin.
