Carter went to the best situation possible in my opinion. He is not called on to be the best on team this year. Plus, he is with many top Georgia players that may keep him in line. Good luck to the young man. I hope he grows up.

The media oversold the Georgia coaching stories as well. Carters DL coach was directly talked to and reported on about Carter and his comments were the opposite of him being a problem, on top of the fact that Kirby literally stated on national TV that he enjoyed having Carter and that he could have mailed the season in due to an early injury but he came back and played when he didn't have to because he loved his teammates. So you can spin the coaching stories how you want but I will take the folks I have seen speak out than drummed up "sources" that the media put out there.

Did I want Carter? Yes.

But Spoon was a top player at a premium position.

Put it this way: would I rather have Revis or Donald? Frankly I’d be thrilled with either.

So I’m ok with the decision. If we had picked a non-CB or Edge (left tackle and QB being the 2 other premium positions) with #5 instead of Carter I’d be pissed.

But I’m excited for a Tariq Woolen / Devon Weathetspoon combo. We could have a decade ahead of us of amazing secondary play. It’s not impossible to believe these guys can be as good as the Earl/Kam/Shermanator secondary.

And that makes me excited!

Coaching staff will ALWAYS know better than any critic or fanbase. Seattle has given us an amazing decade plus of good entertaining football, so I believe in what they're doing. Drafting Carter wasn't what they wanted, make peace with it and move on (for any "Hawks" fan still complaining)

You’re wrong about the character concerns, at least in terms of what we know. People that are on the sidelines and lack internal sources and knowledge are trying to read player’s lives like they’re trying to read someone’s palm. It’s BS. What does matter is the staff interviewed him and they clearly determined he wasn’t a good fit for their team or culture. These character concerns almost never translate into on the field performance issues, but if a player doesn’t show an interest in playing on your team, it doesn’t matter what their potential is, it’s not with you. My suspicion is he made it clear he wasn’t interested in Seattle and I think he’ll likely have a solid career in Philly, though I suspect it will fall short of expectations, but doubt it would be the same with Seattle.

How do they matter? Is he going to race someone home? Hard to find anyone who hasn't raced someone when they were younger.
He didn't cause the other driver to wreck, she was more than double the legal limit and still drove and she lost control. I do think having the other Georgia players helps them all.

Jalen Carter is a generational talent. He will have a better career than any DT in Seahawks history. Carter is going to dominate the NFL, and have a Warren Sapp type of career

21 mins is a long final word. Here's some facts.:
- DB was one of the deepest and most talented positions on the roster entering the draft
- Interior DL was THE biggest need in the draft
- The Seahawks very rarely get the chance to draft at #5
- Seahawks tried to trade the pick away, clock almost ran out
- Very few corners have been drafted in the top 5 in recent years (Denzel Ward, Pat Pete, Jalen Ramsey) - non of them are Nickel guys like Spoon
- You now have a rich people problem at corner causing them to move other ppl to new positions while at interior DL you still have a bunch of guys.

Summary.: The Seahawks went with the guy they fell in love with over the guy they needed. Devon WItherspoon needs to become a special corner to justify the pick that was spent on him. The pick was not smart roster-building wise. For the argument about character concerns: I dont think I head Carter holding out as a rookie like Witherspoon ?! I also didnt hear about Carter being hurt and/or out of shape.

To compare him to Pac-Man Jones is unfair. Literally there were no “character” concerns outside of the racing issue. It is a horrific result but it is something that everyone has done…speeding that is. Time will tell for sure
