I was bullied in highschool. There was this guy who courted me and he used to sing me this song. Every time I had a bad day at school, he would sat beside me and he would start singing "Tulog na, mahal ko". No questions. No talkings. Just him singing. Remembering those times, tho we dont talk about it directly, I know he wanted to make me feel better. He was the last guy I dated and I'm now 7 years single. He's now married with a kid. My mother gave a surprising explanation of this song with her own interpretation while I'm listening. "Alam mo ba meaning nyan? Tulog na parang ok na papakawalan na kita, magpahinga ka na, hihimlay sa kamang malambot (which means kabaon), hindi ka na nila kaya pang saktan (which means yung mga doctor and yung mismong sakit nya), magsasama din tayo sa kabilang buhay. Yung sa video naman ng song para silang naglalakad sa kawalan right? " and I'm very shookt while my mother explaining it lyrics by lyrics.

It's 2023 and I'm back, listening to this song again and again. Nakakalungkot lang na for us who's been struggling for years, us who are trying to give our best pero hindi pwedeng sumuko kasi may mga umaasa pa sa atin, the only escape we have is sleep when everything feels heavy. It's tough being the bigger person in the room everytime. It's tough pretending to be tough when in fact you badly want to feel someone's warmth and comfort. We have this urge to be vulnerable but we can't just easily find the place to be as we are kasi sanay tayong tayo ang sandalan ng lahat. It's just really sad to think we find various ways to comfort ourselves after a very tiring moment kasi we're too scared to show our weak side to people and break the walls we built around us. It's almost 3 am. I used to send her this song whenever she can't sleep. It's been almost four months and hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin ako makatulog sa gabi. Tangina ikaw pa rin naaalala ko each time. Kahit anong gawin ko kahit iblock pa kita completely sa buhay ko. Wala hayop.

I can't even listen to this song. It's on mute as i type this comment. Sobrang daming alaala ang naibaon sa bawat kantang inialay ko sayo. Mga kantang dati ay naging parte na ng buhay ko ngunit ngayon ay hindi ko na magawang pakinggan.
