Speech to health in our lives
Dr. Alexandros Tzallas was born in Athens, Greece, in 1977. He received B.S. degree in physics from
the University of Ioannina, Ioannina, Greece (in 2001) and Ph.D. degree in medical physics from
the University of Ioannina, Ioannina, Greece (in 2009). He has worked on several research and
development European and national programs as a software engineer, researcher, technical
manager, seminar instructor and post-doc researcher. He has published more than 70 peer-
reviewed manuscripts, 5 book chapters and he is the editor of 1 book. He has received more than
860 citations. He holds the position of Lecturer of Computer Programming at the Department of Computer
Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus, Arta, Greece. His research interests
include biomedical signal and image processing, EEG, biomedical engineering, wearable devices,
decision support and medical expert systems and biomedical applications. His latest scientific work

Markos G. Tsipouras was born in Athens, Greece, in 1977. He received the diploma
degree, the M.Sc. and Ph.D degree in computer science from the University of
Ioannina, Greece, in 1999, 2002 and 2008 respectively. Also, he received a Natural
Sciences diploma from the Hellenic Open University in 2013. He has been employed
as visiting faculty in the rank of lecturer/assistant professor at various Universities and
Technological Institutes in Greece. In addition, he has participated in more than 15
European and National Research & Development Projects as a researcher/developer.
His research interests include medical informatics, digital processing of biomedical
signals and images, artificial intelligence, data mining and decision support systems.
He has published more than 60 papers in scientific journals, peer-reviewed conference
proceedings and book chapters. Also, he has co-authored «Medical Informatics»
