Trucker convoy: Timeline of the protest weekend

The ‘Freedom Convoy’ that converged in Ottawa on the weekend started in response to the federal government’s move to require that all Canadian truck drivers crossing the U.S. border be fully vaccinated. The Canadian Trucking Alliance, the main advocacy body for truckers, has disavowed the protest, saying the vast majority of its members are fully vaccinated and are continuing to work. The core organizers of the protest insist that they are not anti-vaccine but instead oppose mandates that require vaccination for people to work.

The Ottawa Citizen should be ashamed about this extremely biased reporting. Tens of thousands partake in peaceful protests and come from across the country to have their say, and all you can do is focus 95% of your report on a handful of incidents. Come on get with it. This is not how Canadian media behaved in the past. What happened to the media ? These truckers have been extremely well behaved and you should be focusing on the support they are receiving from across Canada and across the globe.

We want our fired nurses back! We want you to stop discriminating against the unvaccinated. They are not outcast or people you can just push aside. They are good Canadians citizens with a right to choose for themselves if they want a vaccine. Fear does not justify discrimination

A protest is useless unless it gets attention and makes people uncomfortable. The truckers are doing a great job of making their presence known and felt. I'm so grateful that they plan to stay for as long as it takes.

If you can't be at the protests call and email your politicians and make your voice heard. Contact your MLA's & MP's and tell them you want the mandates to end now.
