Taika Waititi offers his advice on how to be like him

Now in its ninth edition, the Screenwriters' Lecture Series exists to celebrate screenwriters' authorial contribution to film and gives esteemed writers a platform to share highlights and insights from their careers with an audience of film-lovers and their peers. I spoke to Taika Waititi at the BAFTAs to ask what advice he'd offer to aspiring writers.

Taika is a genius - a savant. You can't ask them for advice - it comes from an entirely different place. "Don't take other peoples advice" IF you are Taika Waititi - which you probably aren't. It's like asking a savant musician how to be better and they say "well first off don't learn how to read music" because well...that person is a one in a million genius - their advice pertains only to other one in a million genius'.
