My great grandfather was in world War 1and 2 his diary is chilling and very crazy!! He was a 4stripped army ranger master Sargent artillerie and marksman expert in the army. He said in his diary that they were going into Normandy to take out the bunkers before the invasion started. In his diary. He said that bullets were flying by his head and bodies were dropping all over the place. He said that the first Germans that he had to kill was in the bunkers on the hill side they overwhelmed them and took over the bunkers. But he said that he lost his best friend there in a dog fight with the Germans and many others. He said that he killed the Germans that killed his friends and he cut the patches off there uniforme and he put it in his diary. He lived till 1962.. He was a golden glove champion in the army. He trained soldiers for years in the army.

Quentin Roosevelt (November 19, 1897 – July 14, 1918) was the youngest son of President Theodore Roosevelt and Edith Roosevelt. Inspired by his father and siblings, he joined the United States Army Air Service where he became a pursuit pilot during World War I. He was killed in aerial combat over France on Bastille Day (July 14), 1918. He is the only child of a U.S. president to have died in combat

I cannot help myself from coming back to this video, and others like it. It's a true reminder that time continues on, and in the spans of time all these lives are so incredible. Each of us here today are doing the same things many in these photos are doing, LIVING! Telling our own stories as well. It's sad Lt. Roosevelt's life was cut tragically short but he is an American hero! An aviator, in service to our country so today we can all be humbled and greatful to him and all the others that served as time passed us all by....Thank You.

What’s so sad is that it was just a few months before the end of the war

He is buried next to his brother, Theodore Roosevelt II, who died after landing at Utah Beach in WWII, are replanning the landing on the fly. Because of unexpected current, all the landing craft came in to the beach at a different location than planned. He, walking with two canes, (he had been shot in the knee in WWI), under fire, met each wave, and gave each unit a revised compass azimuth to their objective. He was awarded the Medal of Honor by Congress, but died of a heart attack before it could be given to him.

A war veteran just like his father. Just 6 months later Mr. President Roosevelt himself died in his sleep at his family home. What a legendary story with a family (including Eleanor and Franklin D. Roosevelt) of legendary American war heroes.
