Activists make cigarette butt mountain in Lisbon

Non-biodegradable, toxic and dirty - you might not notice them when they’re scattered on sidewalks, but they don’t go away. Activists in Lisbon have piled up 650,000 cigarette butts - and counting - to show how they pollute our environment. Organizer Andreas Noe, who is known as The Trash Traveler, climbed the butt-mountain - and said toxins from discarded cigarette butts, which also contain plastics, are being washed by the rain into drains, rivers, and ultimately the ocean. He says he wants to remind people to dispose of them properly into bins.
