Deer Woman (or Deer Lady) is a figure who punishes men who beats or otherwise harms children, women, or elders in many Algonquian cultures. I LOVED this interpretation of her being a generational figure. Show is “Reservation Dogs”, which I highly recommend.

She was a little girl in a cruel catholic children's home where an evil man or "human wolf" would kill kids. A friend of hers who used to comfort her was taken away forcefully and she took the oportunity to escape. One of the evil nuns followed her into the woods but the little girl came across a deer with glowing eyes who offered her a way out. The nun was killed and the girl got away with the talking deer. Guessing she got powers from that deer and became part of the folklore. In the episode she gives bear a ride home but they make a quick stop to an old man's house. He lives alone and he seems to recognize the deer lady when she knocks on the door. He invites her in and starts talking about he was nostalgic looking at old photos from his life while she stands quietly behing him. After a little bit she stabs the old man in the back with a deer antler and her footprints stay on the floor with the old man's blood. He was the evil man that killed her childhood friend. She remembers Koda (her friend) wanted to go fishing and trying to plan their escape but they couldnt since he was killed.

I love how close she is to the folks on the rez, even Uncle Kenny has met her. Meeting Bear keeps the legacy alive and well.

in Trinidad and Tobago we got a folklore character called the La Diablesse (pronounced laja bless) would have one hoffed leg. she'd target wicked men. known to hypnotize them with the scent of her perfume, have them follow her to the forest and get them lost or have wild animals un alive them or un alive them herself

D.W. is usually so beautiful a man cannot take his eyes off of her beauty. Never once noticing she has the legs and hooves of a deer. Luring the man in with her beauty and ultimately he will never be seen again. There have been men to escape but very narrowly. We are not supposed to speak of her by name. She has been seen across every native american tribes. Not just myths or urban legends but even within the past couple decades she has stricken fear into many men.
