Marty Friedman left Megadeth because he said he liked to paint with yellow and purple instead on the same bullet grey. Jason Becker was like the perfect counterpart for his potential in my opinion.

there's been some great twin guitar bands over the years, but i think the friedman/becker guitar wizardry in cacophony is so far unsurpassed.

Marty is just such a humble and down to earth dude. Most guitar players would get jealous if another guitar player would 1-up all the time. But Marty wasn't jealous at all. He embraced it and ended up teaming with Jason to make some amazing material. The two are just so amazing.

Those 2 Cacophony CDs continue to be the most brutal guitar albums I ever heard.

An incomparable duo of pure emotional and technical skill. Unmatched.

What Marty just expressed is not only what guitarists, musicians or artists should strive for but all of humanity. Why don't we all step out of our out narrow mindedness and embrace cooperation that we can all benefit from.

Maturity and comprehension, some of the most important things you'll need for being a great musician, knowing when to bow down and play along some magnificent guitarrist, or keyboardist, or even drummer or bassist is the best moment ever in a rehearsel or even a record, playing along, challenging, having fun and loving music as it always should and always will be.

Indeed. I just watched a live performance of Megadeth's "The Killing Road" (one of my favourite songs due to Marty's solo) from 1995. Marty in this video looks as if he did this interview RIGHT after that performance. Holy ****!
