2023 Cadillac CT5 | The Key is Super Cruise

preview_player
Показать описание
The 2018 Cadillac CT6 was the genesis of General Motor’s true hands-free highway driving technology. Three years later and Enhanced Super Cruise was introduced on the CT5 furthering the autonomy with automated lane changes. Flash ahead to 2023 and Super Cruise has expanded throughout Cadillac’s lineup and has even trickled down to certain GMC and Chevrolet models with Buick being the only GM brand yet to offer it.

MSRP as-tested: $65,755

Great review. You’re the only car reviewer that I can watch all the way through!

Good to see GM at the forefront of this technology. While I enjoy driving myself, this would take some of the sheer torture out of driving around Atlanta. Thanks, Steve!

Seeing a snippet of how Super Cruise works, makes Adaptive cruise control look ancient. Thx Steve.

This is no doubt exciting technology. Maybe when this becomes more common place cars will be using blinkers again, because people seem to have forgotten that skill.!

The early Cadillac CT4 owner. The infotainment screen cracked from the inside twice.
500 dollars to change a light bulb (mostly labor cost, zip 94010). They have to remove the entire front bumper assembly to change the headlight bulb.
Right there I drove to a Honda dealer and traded it in for a new 2018 Honda Accord 2.0.
Never again Cadillac.

I am glad you reported the Excellency in this GM Feature. Makes me Jealous that it wasn’t available on my 2017 Impala when I bought it new. But now the Impala is Paid for and worth over $20K (I paid $26, 500 and the sticke was for $36, 500) Yeah it was a deal I couldn’t pass up. That CT5 is just the size and style I like but I will admit the dash is a little throw back but familiar. I just learned after 6 years my Car has Turn by Turn navigation with OnStar. Of course Waze is the GO TO and it’s been updated several times in 6 years which keeps it fresh.

I'm a fan of the CT5, but I'd also prefer a V. Shame they never made it to Australia.

Great review as usual Steve. I own a cadillac XTS and love it. Looking to possibly downsize with the CT5. Have not seen your reviews for awhile. I continue to believe you are among the best in the business...

It's quite intriguing to consider why someone would compare two products that have a price difference of 2 times.

The last hoorah for a decent sedan from GM. it’s not really a Cadillac IMO outside of the super cruise. But I might have to lease one just so I can say I rode into the sunset with GM sedans. I’ve had many and they served me well. Sad I have to spend 2x the money I did on my 2017 Malibu to get a nice, plain car.

The biggest mistake that any journalist can make is comparing two products of vastly different price points and trying to "make a case" for it. The base model CT5 is only around $43, 000 and the Audi S8 is now $124, 500. Even this car at $66, 000 with the turbo 3.0L and other options is bargain priced. AND there are discounts.

What shame Tesla must feel. I don't understand why Tesla uses old technology like radar and GM uses Lidar the best technology period for now. Unfortunately, I'll take Gran Dad's CT5 because of the Super Cruise. This is one of the best Super Cruise tests I've seen. Next time show some lane changes.

Why you compared it to an S8 at the end just doesn't make sense.

Lovely car. I like it. But no GM for me. After leasing (6) new Yukon Denalis in the last 20 years, they burned me on warranty. Dealer Manager even showed me internal GM emails about they KNOW they have problems but want the Dealer to nicely tell people to screw off. So....all I can say is, I'm turning in my lease 6 months early. I'm voluntarily eating the payments that's how bad this iis and for first time ever, will look import. BTW - Wifey has an XT6 - 2200 miles on it bought 7 months ago. It goes into D1 on its last week we were in it, I was flooring it on I-95N and couldn't go over 60. To each his own, but a 20 year GM owner again. Good luck

I find the technology interesting and impressive but aside from an engineering exercise what really is the point of super cruise??? When did steering a car become an onerous task??? I have a CT5 and the reason I bought it is because I love the way it drives and handles so paying and extra $4K so that I don't have to steer seems a bit of a waste of money. Just seems like yet another super expensive piece of technology waiting to break down and cost a fortune to fix.

The CT5 isn't going away in 2025. It's scheduled for a front end refresh and 33 inch screen inside for 2025.

Comparing an Audi S8 to a CT5 is a really bad comparison. Like comparing a CLA to an E-Class. Not in same category at all.

What does Scotty Kilmer think of Super Cruise? LOL!
