Rando & speedfly - Mont Blanc 4810 🇫🇷 - 4K

Finally, on the fly-attempt number 6, things went more or less as expected. Earlier attempts have proven less good weather/wind, most of the time been flying, but just poor flights! No revolution that weather forecast is just to be indicative, up at Mont Blanc be prepared for deviations, that is my experience.

Heavy clouds in the morning led to approximately 2 hours of waiting before flying. It was cold up there, and even with 4 jackets and some activity to speed up the blood circulation, it was actually impossible to avoid a minor frostbite.

Started from the center of Chamonix in the evening and hooked onto the Grands Mulets route, via the Petit Plateau and headed up the west ridge to the summit, all in all 3850 accumulated metres. Above the clouds I got a spectacular sunrise, as an extra spice to the whole adventure. Back down in the valley at 9 o'clock. Summit day: 24th of May, 2023

The "long way up" and the "fast way down"🤔 that sounds to me like the ideal combination when the fast way down is safer than 'falling' ... which yours definitely is☺ Excellent video ... I'ld love to see a gps track of that descent😉

I assume you mean 11hrs of climbing in exchange for 7min of air time? (Some people get dropped off by helicopter at the summit.😏 Much like how some surfers get towed out to the big waves via wave runners instead of paddling out.) That aside, would I trade one for the other? You betcha.
