After I Retired in August: I gave away my Truck to my Brother. My three Laser Printers & my Binding machine to the other Brother. Distributed all the "stuff" from my parents to Family members, gave away all my heavy, oak furniture. There is one balikbayan box with my Son to ship once I have an address. I came to Cebu City Monday, with two suitcases & two laptop bags. 15 Days booked in a Hotel & 20 days worth of clothes. Next week, I look for a Condo Rental for Six Months.

I love that you included George Carlin's "a place for your stuff" bit. George is a legend and truly missed.

In 2005, I sold EVERYTHING! Furniture, vehicles, appliances, house, everything I couldn't put in 2 suitcases, and moved to Mindanao! I had been to the Philippines years before, and had always wanted to go back. I had gotten divorced, and I loaded my new found freedom into my bags and bought a plane ticket. I'd been talking to a young lady for several months and I was on my way to meet her. To make a long story short....we've now been married 18 years and have 2 sons. We're in the states and I see it as the best decision I ever made (moving to the Philippines years ago). It's not a decision that works for everyone, but in my case... ABSOLUTELY!

6 figure income, million dollar home, 3 car garage with German cars, giant tvs in every room, ignored and disrespected by your household or, just enough money to get by, comfortable home, a tricycle chauffer at your service, one small tv where your wife who just cooked for you and your kids gather around and watch together.

At the end of the day every man just wants peace and respect. Sadly nowadays he won't find that in the west.

Three more reasons why I watch every episode of The Filipina Pea

Self-Reflection and Integrity:
She polishes her soul, avoiding careless hypocrisy. Integrity is her mirror, reflecting truth.

Golden Rule Keeper:
Others feel her kindness, for she treats them as she wishes to be treated. No double standards, no masks.

A Voice of Kindness:
She never humiliates, never shames. Her words are wings that lift, not weights that crush.

I chose Thailand and noved at the age 79. It was easy. I had one living family member who had noved ocerseas for marriage 30 years years ago. Visas and money transfers can be annoying but can be overcome with persistance. Six years later, I can honestly say my life is blissful.

I’m constantly amazed with your wisdom and knowledge of the culture here in the US. Keep up the great work.

I retired in April and immediately put the house up for sale. In July I had sold the house, sold my two cars and was taking a SUV full of boxes to my Sister's house

I came to Thailand with two 70 pound boxes, cash and a Condo purchased in December of the previous year.

All my friends in the USA said I was making a big mistake. Well 14 years later, it was the best decision I ever made.

Even if you don't plan on moving to another country, minimizing your lifestyle is liberating and peaceful.

Hi Pea., you have described how I currently live, prior to my retirement, seven years ago, I sold my house and the majority of my furniture, I moved into a two bedroom apartment, and lived there until I retired.
I learned that my happiness didn’t evolve around material things, but my peace of mind, my health, being able to share time with close friends, and travel.
When I sold my house and minimized my responsibilities of asset ownership, I became less burdened with debt and anxiety, I could breathe.
The evolution of life has helped me define and understand myself as a person, and where my happiness lies.
Thanks Pea, powerful message 😊

Your opening introduction is so spot on, Pea! You never cease to amaze even after watching 100’s of your videos.

Minimalism offers another option that some fail to recognize and it’s the best option of them all in my opinion. Slow travel keeping your options always open. Once you get rid of the anchors (as you so correctly termed them), some realize they never want to be anchored again as long as their health permits. That doesn’t mean you can’t be stationary when needed. It just means you always keep your options open and stay small ready to pull anchor when the time is right. Having a like minded partner is ideal.
