Raymond Tallis: Time Travel and Other Myths about Time

In this video recording of a live talk, Raymond Tallis, one of Britain's foremost philosophers and public intellectuals, focuses on myths that arise out of treating time as a mere dimension analogous to the dimensions of space.

Various reductive definitions of time are examined and rejected. The main focus is on time travel and Professor Tallis sets out the reasons why this is impossible even in principle.

The presentation is followed by a vigorous question and answer session.

Most natural processes are irreversible. Not impossible.

The time-independent Schrodinger equation makes no distinction between past, present and future.

A closed time loop which states the impossibility of travelling back in time is not the full story.

Restraints and constraints on being able to influence matter if time travellers existed may be a condition set out by physical laws yet unknown.

The black hole and time question is food for thought.

Having recently watched a Carlo Rovelli video on white holes as well as ER = EPR Holographic duality video by Leonard Susskind I am quite certain that multidimensional spacetime travel is possible.
