You should have discussed the properties of a plane wave. When the wave will be called a PLANE WAVE? As COS is considered in the equation, the amplitude of the wave at z = 0 should not be equal to ZERO.

I got a question. Wouldn't the beta be the wave number? A phase constant would be a constant C added inside the trigonometric function which would translate all the wave C units backwards in the z direction.
