The Cure
The Same Deep Water As You
Disintegration

kiss me goodbye pushing out before i sleep
can't you see i try swimming the same deep
water as you is hard "the shallow drowned lose
less than we" you breathe the strangest twist
upon your lips "and we shall be together..."

"kiss me goodbye bow your head and join with
me" and face pushed deep reflections meet
the strangest twist upon your lips and
disappear the ripples clear and laughing break
against your feet and laughing break the mirror
sweet "so we shall be together..."

"kiss me goodbye" pushing out before i sleep
it's lower now and slower now the strangest
twist upon your lips but i don't see and i don't
feel but tightly hold up silently my hands
before my fading eyes and in my eyes your
smile the very last thing before i go...

i will kiss you i will kiss you i will kiss you
forever on nights like this i will kiss you i will
kiss you and we shall be together...

My husband committed suicide 3 years ago... And this song literally makes my soul hurt because it has such deep meaning and the fact that he did kiss me goodbye that morning.. I cry in agony whenever I listen to this song. The Cure is absolutely my go to music when I want to feel close to him.

The whole album is masterpiece. But this song is the most deep and dramatic.

This track is still other level even after 30 years. Disintegration, the greatest album in human history was released May 2, 1989.

Everything is perfect about this song...the moodiness, the swooning, the keyboards, guitars, drum hits, even the length... My favorite cure song

This song is the epitome of everything that made The Cure one of the  greatest bands of their time. Underrated, underappreciated, but still the best. I can honestly say, I would have never made it through my angst riddled 20's without them.

This song is one of THE best The Cure songs written and performed to date. Nothing will ever match it. Robert Smith is a god.

One of the greatest songs of all time for me... been listening to this on and off for about 22 years now and still love it just as much - from late teens to late 30s... carried through so many life events.

Best listened to alone. I wouldn't even consider this a "song" as much as a...I don't know...a 'feeling' perhaps. Perfection.

This song is painfully dark, and I love it, perfect on a moody day

I was born in '78. I've seen this band many times, and it's so fresh and new. I was sitting in the waiting room for my son during his guitar lessons. I heard "The Cure's" influences in the modern sound in the music being played. Thank god I was sitting down. Unbelievable legacy that has touched billions.

No, really, I could listen to it for hours... excellent song, each one of us gave it a meaning. That's how powerful music can be.

If I could make a soundtrack of my life, probably i'd choose this song for my sad and melancholics moments I had, The Cure was an is an inspiration in my life, they have many beautiful songs but this in particular could be the foreclosure of a dream come true... Long live to Robert and all the band... God bless them for having touch so many lives like mine...

This is the best song The Cure ever made. it speaks so much to me. i bought the album solely because i read the tracklist, and my eyes were immediately drawn to #9. no way can a song with a title as amazing as this sound bad. bought the album years ago, and its still one of my favorite albums of all time.
