We sure love to complain about NES games, so it's good to hear Gilly talk about more underrated NES games like Felix the Cat...

"I've never heard anybody say they knew what (Rainbow Island) was."
GIlly, you underestimate how much Guru Larry I've watched over the years.

"Felix The Cat" and "Tiny Toon" games are really popular in Asia and Europe where pirated Famiclones were sold. If Nintendo paid close attention to those territories, some games would've sold millions.

Absolutely Amazing that you mentioned the TROG games, it was the only game (besides Kickle Cubicle) that my mother would play with me. Years later even my Fiance and Love grew up playing this same game with her dad and loved it as well. The difficulty is based off of the levels through the game. Arkistas Ring is also amazing and the previous mentioned Kickle cubicle

City Cruisin! It’s a simple but addicting arcade platformer with some super catchy music and a really dumb plot that’s only in the manual

I absolutely love Crystalis; I'm surprised it's barely talked about, especially considering how I found it. It's essentially in ARPG, but much faster then you'd expect for the NES; the camera moves really smoothly, the controls feel great, and the story's pretty cool. Heck, I found out about the game on the Switch's Online NES!

A favorite of mine that I totally played legitimately was Cocoron, also kind of a Megaman clone, with the difference being that you build the playable characters out of different parts, so there’s a lot of room for creativity l

kinda sad "the guardian legend" didn't make the list, but that just means i can recommend it. the game's a sequel to guardic on the msx and it's like -- it's hard to describe? imagine a top-down shooter, zelda, and metroid... but one game.

I remember playing the Tiny Toons game on the MegaDrive/Genesis, Buster's Hidden Treasure! One of my favourite games of the time and I played it so much that one of the little pins inside the cartridge snapped off, so I couldn't play it anymore :( I think I found a way around that somehow, but this was around twenty years ago for me so I can't remember how I did it

Oh, cool, Felix the cat...that game certainly doesn't bring back nightmares...
There's a Samurai Pizza Cats for the famicom i think? It looks pretty neat

I find myself revisiting Street Fighter 2010 from time to time. I like the way you progress through levels by having a bounty, essentially, defeating X amounts of a specific enemy. And the music is great.
However, the final level is unfortunately a bit too unforgiving for me x)

Great list man! Love Little Nemo and Grogg. For me though, Adventure Island II will always be my number 1 underrated NES game

I absolutely loved playing rainbow islands as a kid. My mom and I would play it on the PS all the time

I’ll say that Mappy, Mappy-Land, and Mappy Kids are also very great and underrated NES Classics that barely get talked about. Sure, Mappy is originally an Arcade title, but the NES version in Mappy is honestly as great as the original Arcade version in my opinion. NES has a lot of under-appreciated classics and the Mappy series is one of them.

Was in the middle of thinking about games I should hack onto my NES Classic, so this video came out at the perfect moment

Me and my little brother loved playing Trog on the NES growing up. I never knew there was an arcade version though until the last few years.

Some of my favourite hidden gems for the NES are games like Power Blade 1&2, Shatterhand, oh and I love Bucky O Hare so much, and have only heard about 2 people talk about it.
I played a little of Totally Rad, a long time ago and remember not liking it that much, but I could give it another chance and see if I missed out.
