"You looked at me and I knew" so much meaning in such a short, simple sentence.

Described as a "cathedral of the senses". I can't tell you how many times I have watched the trailer because it lives up to the description. A Hidden Life got a 10 minute standing ovation at Cannes in 2019. August Diehl is a huge talent who works with the best directors in the world, yet hes such a kind and gracious gentleman based on the interviews. Valerie Pachner has the most beautiful and striking eyes I have ever seen and I bet you anything Malicks camera loved them. All that and I haven't seen it yet because I have to wait till its on bluray. I am so looking forward to that. Thanks for sharing SearchlightPictures

This movie was existential to me Perspective changing. There are a lot of movies that wanna pretend to turn over a new stone in your head but you can see right through them. This movie feels like it comes from the place so many pretend to.

Incredible! A must see. Family, convictions, standing for one's faith, character and convictions. The scenery was spectacular.

Easily one of the finest movies I've ever seen, one can get the beauty right away (thanks Terrence). But the underlying meaning
is another matter, an important teaching, take a year or so and then realize You have just begun.

Oh God. I'm currently in Austria and I wish this film was originally in the German language. But still, the English language cannot ruin it at all. Terrence Malick knows how to create a masterpiece. Period.

A person must never be forced to choose between his or her family and faith and the state. Stand against tyranny before you no longer have an opportunity to do so.

I'm so glad Terrence Malick dropped the "experimental" movies and went back to this. The New World is seriously underrated, and given how the Academy completely ignored this one, I fear it will be, too.
