What makes a great adult colouring book?

The craze for grown-ups breaking out the crayons has taken the publishing world by storm over the past year. Amazon's top 10 best-seller list currently contains four colouring books for adults. Scottish illustrator Johanna Basford has sold around 2m copies of her two colouring books. As she prepares to bring out another book in the autumn, BBC News met up with Johanna and Sophie Garner a colouring fan to find out the secret of colouring success. Some see the success of the books as a way to switch off from screens - Ms Basford calls it "digital detox" - others as a way to relieve stress. Video journalist: Nikki Nahal. Seven years later and adult colouring is still going strong. The fad has died off but those who truly enjoy it are still colouring.

In my opinion, a perfect coloring book would have intricate designs, but not so intricate that it only stresses you out even more. Nitty gritty details I'd prefer would include one sided pages, no designs that would run into the binding which would be hard to color, and decent paper.

I love a bit of colouring in.
Instead of turning on my PC to play some games, record some games, edit videos, upload videos etc, I spend my whole day and night colouring in, before bed I sip a cup of tea and say night-night colouring book, ill open you up in the morning.

Working as a team on a single sheet is part of why I recommend coloring books to people looking to get into animation, because each frame can be shared between a sketcher and colorist.

I love to draw and paint as an artist, but I also love the coloring book craze. I know that some art nazi's out there are snobbish to the concept, but it is fun to engage another illustration with you own ideals. Sometime I love testing products and at the same time produce something that maybe useful for something. Just nice and relaxing with no pressures or demands from others.
