Forces News has taken a look at INS Vikrant, India's newly-commissioned aircraft carrier, and compared it to Britain's HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Celebrating the rollout of their latest warship in Kerala, the Indian public got a glimpse of the 45,000-tonne vessel after a 13-year wait for it to be built.

Let’s not compare . 🇮🇳 🤝 🇬🇧 and work together. 40 jets become 80 . 1 carrier become 2 . Power in numbers . Allies not enemies ❤

The video compared the cost of 2 QE carriers vs the cost of 1 Indian ship.

"25+ knots" implied dubiously less than Vikrant's 28knots. The Queen Elizabeth hit 30 knots in trials, just give the actual value.

missed out the main advantage of the HMS Queen Elizabeth only has a crew of 679
and labour is expensive in the UK so lots of automation

Respect to the British carrier. Would love to see both the carriers operating together in the Indian Ocean region 👍🏼

0:51 You state the INS Vikrant cost £2.5bn to build and HMS Queen Elizabeth cost £6.2bn, but surely the cost is half of that because we built TWO carriers instead of just one.

Come on Forces News you should at least get the QE's cost right!
She did not cost £6.2 Bn to build. That was the total cost of TWO carriers - HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.

Good to India. This is not just a carrier, but a symbol of independence from overseas purchases. At least now the wheelhouse will smell of Japatti's and Bollywood, and not Pelmeni and war crimes.
They of course will have a few bugs to iron out in testing, but she needs this more than the UK. The UK is surrounded by NATO countries and has 5th Gen Tech. India is surrounded by smiling faces with daggers and is competing with Chinas stolen Western Tech.
(also, erm... lets get the price of the UK carriers right. This is for BOTH carriers not one)

Great work India! It takes a lot of work to keep fighters operational at sea, let alone all the work they have to do while they're out there. Yes, it's their 2nd, & they've been committed to an indigenous carrier force for a long time. It's still great that the Indian Navy will start getting more extremely valuable experience in this field.

Once you come to terms with it, this will be an extremely powerful national asset for protecting the Indian ocean ❤️

The next carrier, INS Vishal, will be around 70, 000 tons and have EMALS.

Latest news says the HMS carriers have embarrassingly malfunctioned. Talk about "Britannia ruling the waves"!

Indian carrier - Actually works
UK carrier - Multiple Engine failure, Meltdown and only a sitting duck in dry dock
Edit - No hate to UK ❤ but the way you guys represent others is pathetic

The Indian Carrier had a longer build time than 13 years. I worked in Cochin in 1984 and talking about an indigenous carrier was all the rage, to replace the Russian jobby, at the IN naval base. Interesting that it is hard to spot any difference between IN and RN dress uniforms.

The Indian carrier, Vikrant, uses STOBAL for its planes. It should be able to out range the QE by hundreds of miles. Because it could operate AA refueling planes and longer range early detection planes that can stay aloft further and longer then the QE. It could operate the current US F -18 or the B or C versions of the F-35, Even the French Rafale.

There is one more comparison, one aircraft carrier can operate in oceans and the other one can barely get out of port.
